The Government of Canada must commit to honouring the memory of Canadian Armed Forces members who have lost their lives in service of their country during peacetime.
Whereas:
- Since 1914, over 2,400 Canadian Armed Forces members have lost their lives in non-combat roles on Canadian soil.
- Between 2013 and 2019, 104 members of the Regular Force and 20 members of the Reserve Force have died by suicide.
- On October 22, 2014, Corporal Nathan Cirillo, was murdered while standing guard at the National War Memorial in Ottawa.
- Bill C-333 is widely supported by veterans groups and Royal Canadian Legion branches.
