Support Peacetime Service and Sacrifice Memorial Day

The Government of Canada must commit to honouring the memory of Canadian Armed Forces members who have lost their lives in service of their country during peacetime.

Whereas:

  • Since 1914, over 2,400 Canadian Armed Forces members have lost their lives in non-combat roles on Canadian soil.
  • Between 2013 and 2019, 104 members of the Regular Force and 20 members of the Reserve Force have died by suicide.
  • On October 22, 2014, Corporal Nathan Cirillo, was murdered while standing guard at the National War Memorial in Ottawa.
  • Bill C-333 is widely supported by veterans groups and Royal Canadian Legion branches.
